December 21, 2009

First day of winter and we are all still doing well. Rachel is growing by leaps and bounds and sort of getting on a schedule....just not one that Rob and I are used to! The last weigh-in she was 7 pounds 15 1/2 ounces!! a 1/2 and she will be 8pounds! Who would have thought we'd get this big......Yeah!!! She is still on the O2, but the doctor did drop her back down to 1/4 liter....we go back Jan 7 to see if she will still need it or what the next step is.

She will be on the apnea monitor for a little longer even if she is not on O2. We are also waiting for the twins to arrive....any day now.....we can't wait! What a Christmas this will be!

Here are some new picture......sorry the posts are so far between now, it's hard to keep up with it with her being home......But we promise to post pictures from Christmas.

December 5 update

Sorry we haven't posted in a while, who knew taking care of a baby would be so much work! Rachel has been home for about 2.5 weeks now and is getting used to mommy and daddy taking care of her. She has 3 doctors that she sees for regular appointments: her pediatrician, a retina specialist eye doctor, and her respiratory doctor.
At her last doctor visit weigh in this past wednesday she was up to 7 lbs 6 oz. The respiratory doctor bumped her up to a 1/2 liter of oxygen from 1/4 because it seems like she's still working hard to breathe. The eye doctor said she has a stage 2 retinopothy of prematurity, which means her eyes are still developing. They don't seem too concerned yet, but have bumped her up to weekly visits to monitor the progress.

Other than that, Rachel is adjusting to home life very well. She eats every 2.5-3hours, does not like taking baths, does not like her diaper being changed, does not like changing outfits, and LOVES being on her tummy either on the floor or laying on one of our chests. She has quite a bit of gas (as milk is very gassy) so we've added some Mylicon to her bottles and it seems to be helping. We both are longing for the day when she will sleep more than 3 hours at a time.

We've posted some pics from the past few weeks so you can see how she's growing, as well as some of her new outfits. Enjoy!
